GrooveLab is a curator, not a publisher. This page explains exactly how the app finds, matches and organises publicly available educational content — and where the limits are.

What GrooveLab actually does

Every instrument path is a structured curriculum: chapters, lessons and practice goals written to give your learning a sensible order. For each lesson, GrooveLab looks for the most relevant publicly available teaching video and embeds it through YouTube's standard privacy-enhanced player, alongside AI-written practice notes and a set of related videos to explore next.

How a video gets matched

  1. The lesson topic, instrument and level are turned into a focused search intent.
  2. Candidate videos are found through public YouTube search and metadata — never through private data or scraped downloads.
  3. Each candidate is scored on how closely its title, topic and language match the lesson, and low-confidence matches are rejected rather than shown.
  4. Matches are re-checked over time; if a video is removed or made private, the lesson falls back to a search link instead of a broken embed.

Match accuracy is logged per instrument and lesson so drops in quality can be spotted and fixed.

Where AI is used — and where it isn't

  • Used for: lesson structure, practice notes, search intent, video matching, related-topic suggestions and the AI practice assistant.
  • Not used for: generating, copying, re-hosting, transcribing or rewriting anyone's teaching material.

AI can be wrong. Notes and suggestions are study aids, not authoritative instruction — the teaching itself always comes from the creators whose videos you watch.

Creators stay in control

GrooveLab does not own, host or monetise the content it references. Videos play from YouTube, so views, likes and subscriptions count for the creator. Every video carries a credit line encouraging learners to watch, like and subscribe on the creator's own channel.

Rights holders can ask for anything to be removed through the takedown form, and track the outcome with a reference code.

Your data in curation

Your instruments, level and goals shape what gets recommended. Practice logs and completed lessons stay tied to your account and are never sold or shared. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
